Vest Cameras for Boy Scouts
Kodak has a long history of partnering with scouting organizations, having produced branded materials and cameras since at least the 1920s. The first of the branded cameras came in 1929 with the introduction of the Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Camp Fire Girls Kodaks. These models were produced for the US market, but two UK-market models (Boy Scout UK and Girl Guides) soon followed. The Boy Scout USA & UK models are presented here.
As with the Petites and several other special edition cameras produced around this time, these were decorated versions of the Vest Pocket Kodak (model B). Also like the Petities, these little gems were designed by the venerable Walter Dorwin Teague. Bask in that deco glow.
I received the original instruction manual with my US edition, which you can see here. The booklet contains lots of tips for shooting indoors and out, along with informative info-graphics detailing the various functions and settings of the camera.
